Commercial & Operations Director - Signage

I'm recruiting for an ambitious, growing manufacturing and installation business that is looking for a commercially astute, people-focused leader to join its senior leadership team.
The business has grown considerably over the last 12 months, has an established reputation for delivering high-quality products and services to national customers, and has ambitious plans to grow by a further 50% over the next three years.
Now comes the exciting part.
The Managing Director has built a successful business but recognises that, to take it to the next level, he needs someone alongside him who can take ownership of the day-to-day commercial and operational performance.
Essentially, he's looking for his future successor.
Someone who can take responsibility, challenge ideas, make decisions, develop people and help shape the next chapter of the business.
This isn't a role where you'll simply oversee production or sit in an office analysing spreadsheets.
You'll have genuine influence over how the business operates, how it grows and how it develops its people.  And just as importantly, you'll need a cracking personality!
The business has a great ethos and an MD who genuinely cares about his people. He's determined to maintain that culture as the company grows and wants someone who will bring energy, positivity and a sense of fun to the leadership team.
 
The Role
Working closely with the MD and wider leadership team, you'll take responsibility for ensuring the business operates efficiently, profitably and is well positioned for continued growth.
 Your responsibilities will include:

- Driving commercial performance, profitability and sustainable business growth.
- Overseeing manufacturing, production, installation and day-to-day operational performance.
- Managing budgets, forecasting, cash flow, job costing and financial controls.
- Ensuring projects are accurately costed, margins are protected and operational efficiencies are maximised.
- Reviewing existing systems and processes, identifying improvements and implementing change.
- Managing capacity, resources and investment requirements to support future growth.
- Leading, mentoring and developing managers, creating accountability and encouraging people to take ownership.
- Working alongside the MD on business strategy, commercial decisions and long-term planning.
- Gradually taking on greater responsibility for the overall running of the business.

 
What Experience Will You Need?

- Senior management or director-level experience within a signage or print manufacturing environment
- A proven track record of contributing to business growth and improving commercial performance.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, costing, margins and financial controls.
- Experience managing manufacturing or operational teams.
- The ability to develop and implement processes, systems and operational improvements.
- Experience leading managers, developing teams and driving accountability.
- Confidence working directly with business owners and senior stakeholders.
- A hands-on, commercially focused approach to leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and a naturally engaging personality.
